No. The Bryan-College Station Metropolitan Planning
Organization (BCS MPO) consulted with a firm to study the
possibility of relocating the UPRR through the community.
That option was rejected when a consensus on an acceptable
route could not be reached.Therefore, the railroad will
remain in place.
The proposed design improves capacity with less new land
required than other alternative designs. The new land to be acquired for the
interchange is shown on the
project layout.
Currently, trains, vehicles and pedestrians all share use of the intersection.
Under the planned design, all modes of travel will be separated by bridges.
