Permit Section Closures
In observance of the Thanksgiving holidays, the Motor Carrier Division (MCD) will be closed on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25. MCD will be open for normal Saturday operations on Nov. 26. For the Christmas holidays, MCD will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 24, resuming normal operations on Monday, Dec. 26.
MCD also will close on Saturday, Dec. 31, in advance of New Year's Day. Normal operations will resume on Jan. 2.
The normal hours of operation for the Motor Carrier Division Austin Permits Office are 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday. Our offices are closed on the following holidays:

General Permit Restrictions
The movement of loads exceeding 14 feet in width, or 16 feet in height, or 110 feet in length, is suspended during select holidays unless TxDOT grants an exception.

Super Heavy Movement
The movement of super heavy loads is suspended during select holidays. Exceptions can be granted on a case by case basis by MCD Permit Section.

Manufactured Housing Restrictions
The movement of manufactured housing is not allowed on the following major holidays:
